Getting Ready in Taking a Test

This week we will be having our National Career Assessment Examination. We conducted review for our preparation. I have tips here that might help you out.

Keep up with your school work.
One way you can succeed in school and on tests is by studying and doing your homework regularly. Studies show that you remember only about one-fifth of what you memorize the night before a test. That's one good reason not to try to learn it all at once! Keeping up with your homework throughout the year will help you remember the material better. You also won't be as tired or nervous as if you try to learn everything at once.

Feel your best.
One of the ways you can do your best on tests and in school is to make sure your body is ready. To do this, get a good night's sleep each night and eat a healthy breakfast. Also, wear comfortable clothes.

Be prepared.
Do practice questions and lean about how standardized tests are organized.

When you are taking the test, follow the directions.
It is important to listen carefully to the directions your teacher gives and to read the written instructions carefully.

Look at each page carefully before you start answering.
You usually read a passage and then answer questions about it. But when you take a test, it's helpful to follow a different order.
First, read the directions. Then read the questions before you read the passage. This way you will know exactly exactly what kind of information to look for as you read. Next, read the passage carefully. Finally, answer the questions.
On Math and Science tests, look at the labels and charts. Think about what each graph or chart shows. Questions often will ask you to draw conclusions about the information.

Manage your time.
Time management means using your time wisely on a test so that you can finish as much of it is possible and do your best. Sometimes you may want to do the easier parts first. This way, if you run out of time before you finish, you will have completed a good chunk of the work.

You don't have to keep up with everyone else.
You may notice other students in the class finishing before you do. Don't worry about this. Just keep going, trying not to spend too long on any one question.

Fill in answer circles properly.
Fill the entire circle, but don't spend too much time making it perfect. Make your mark dark, but not so dark, but not so dark that it goes through the paper. And be sure to choose only one answer.

It's usually not a good idea to change your answers.
Usually your first choice is the right one. Unless you realize the you misread the question, the directions, or some facts in the passage, it's usually safer to stay with your first answer. If you are pretty sure your answer is wrong, o course, go ahead and change it. Make sure you completely erase the first one.

Use context clues to figure out tough questions.
If you come across a word or idea you don't understand, use context clues - the words in the sentences nearby- to help you figure out its meaning.

Sometimes it's good to guess.
For each question, most of these tests let you choose from four or five answer choices. If you decide that a couple of answers are clearly wrong but you're still not sure about the answer, go ahead and make your best guess.

Sometimes you should skip a question and come back to it.
On many tests, you will score better if you answer more questions. This means that you should not spend too much time on any single question.

Check your work.
Scan your answer sheet. Make sure that you answered every question you could.

Say a little prayer
Ask guidance from God to enlighten your mind.

Finally-- avoid test anxiety.
If you get nervous about tests, don't worry. Being a little nervous actually sharpens your mind. But if you get very nervous about tests, take a few minutes to relax the night before or the day of the test.

Class Prophecy

While I was having my dinner at Café Cinco in Paris during my medical conference there, someone caught my attention when reading Elle magazine. What a surprise! It was Julius Enriquez who is now the editor of world’s largest fashion magazine ELLE. He really transformed.Good memories flashed back when he used to make fun in class that makes us alive. As I turned to the next page , it was the astonishing, glamour pose of Teodoro Cuevas with a caption “The new associate producer of America’s Next Top Model”. I am so proud and at the same time happy that he achieved hid dreams that used to pose at any angle every time a camera flashes.

As I enter the conference hall, someone is staring at me. She approached me and it was Dr. Kimberly Lariba. She is now a neurologist at St. Jude Research hospital which is based in Canada. We had a short conversation because the convention is about to start. Dr. Farah Lagudas is also present in the event. She is a leading now a dermatologist with her own clinic.

When the event was ended, I headed straight to the airport to catch my flight to the Philippines. I received a call from Mariah Nicole Getes who is very excited for my arrival. She told me that she will be having her grand openingof her much owned restaurant. I am so proud of my cousin who graduated as a pastry chef with a bachelor dagree n culinary arts in the USA.

For some reasons, my flight was very delayed. While waiting at the lounge in the airport, I saw group of outrageous fans wanting autographs. I wonder who are the stars they are following. There were posters and placards and it was the group DVJD Generation. They were Dinessa Embate, Via Sarvida, Judy Ann Masicampo, and Dannica Capua. Their friendship really lasted. But I was not able to get close to them because there were paparazzis everywhere.

Finally our plane is now ready to take off. I was about to close my eyes to take a sleep the flight attendant recognized me at her very first glance, and it was Lilian Mae Ramos. She told me that she is planning to have a vacation in our hometown Cabalian. I was so happy that we got to see each other after so many years. We also talked about the newly established airport in Cabalian which   we are going to land for the next few hours. I could not hide my excitement anymore. But before that, we stopped over in Hong Kong. I ate my food in a fine dining restaurant actually owned by Clydel Evaldez which caters Asian cuisine. I approached Irine Mae Malubay who happens to be the branch manager. I just left my best regards to her because Clydel is not around.

After few more hours, I got to reach my destination. I arrived early and jetlag hit me. Nicole picked me at the airport who got loads of news to tell of what I missed when Im not around.

On the way, I can say that the simple cabalian before has changed a lot. It is now progressing thrugh the leadership of mayor Diana Mae Mendoza. It is now a busy city yet maintained the cleanliness and green environment. New tall rising buildings, establishments. Enrika France is the Departemnt of Tourism Ambassadress encouraging to visit the wonderful, historic place of San Juan. I just read that on a tall billboard.

On the other way around, a colorful billboard attracted me. It was Rowelalyn Calilap endorsing a classic perfume. She looks as beautiful fifteen years ago. She was very bold resembling her own real character.
Nicole and I stucked in traffic for almost an hour. She told me that Jociebby Medilo has had her classic restaurant which serves authentic cabalianon food. We couldn’t be much happier for our dear classmates and cannot wait to see some of them tomorrow at the opening of Nicole’s café Bistro. And at last! After a long travel I got to enter thevillage. It is good to be home!

The family had a very warm welcomed for me. I have to rest for the big day tomorrow.
Before I sleep, I turned on the TV and there she was Aiza rabi, a successful showbiz reporter. She interviewed Princess Jean Janog who is an actress in her upcoming flick. And another news to be proud of Marialin Alveniz is the newly crowned MJs. Universw 2022. She is very stunning with her long gown designed by our very own Rose Ann Embodo

On the following day, we wander around the city. So may new places in the town that turn the old town into a city. We went to the mall and we just found out that it was the collaborative effort of architect Cieny Buctot and Engr. Bohner Gorme. The owner is also one of our classmates John Lloyd Pascual.

Suddenly, Reilren mae Cinco bumped into our way. At first, we hardly recognized  each other but as we go along we decided to have a coffee and she invited us to her La Carmela de San Juan Resort. We had chitchat fun memories during our high school days.

Late at that day, the ribbon cutting was held. The whole family attended the said event and it is more fun when Mary Grace Nuñez arrived at the event. She is the well-known owner of Nuñez Imports which make delectable wines. John Lawrence made it also to the event despite of her hectic schedule. He has just promoted as CEO in Paco company. He came with him a very delightful, beautiful Erica Medilo who is very glad to see all of us. She really made a time to attend even if she came from a fashion show. She is now a ramp model with her own clothingline. She informs us that Kathryne ville Monghit will be having her painting exhibit.

Before the night ends, Carlito Quigao along with his closest pals Kevin Marquezo and Louie Nuez. He told us that he is no the MVP player in NBA of their basketball team. He even made it to the top ten richest athletes in Forbes Magazine. Louie also now has a few dance studios in the country. Kevin also has always on thecover of magazine as a model. What a star studded event it was! We had just a mini-reunion there for only one night but we for a grand reunion to be organized by Shaira Edilo. Shaira volounteered to hold the upcoming event to her La Vista Hotel owned by Edilo Group of Companies. We could not for that day to come.

But then all of a sudden, an alarm clock alarmed. I realized it was only just a dream. I hurriedly get up on my bed and ready for school.

5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR WINDOWS COMPUTER LIGHTNING FAST

5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR WINDOWS COMPUTER LIGHTNING FAST

Nobody enjoys using a slow computer. You want your computer to be fast and responsive, whether it's brand spanking new or four years old. Follow our tips to keep you zooming along the information superhighway, regardless of your PC's age!

 1. Run the essentials
The most basic thing you can do to speed up your computer is also one of the fastest changes you can make — close unneeded applications! If you're working in Excel, the odds that you'll need Word open at the same time are slim. Limit open software to what you are using at the time. This also cuts down on distractions and helps you get your work done more quickly.
If you have a stubborn application that won't close, treat it as a frozen application and kill it via Task Manager by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del and selecting Start Task Manager.

Your computer automatically starts some programs when you turn it on. Some of these are necessary parts of the Windows operating system, but you may be able to disable some applications. Open the program in question and go into Properties or Options. Usually, auto-start options are found under General or Launch settings and will be labelled "Launch when Windows starts." Uncheck the check box and save the setting change to keep the application from coming back up the next time you reboot.

If you don't find an option like that, there's one more place to look for applications that auto-start. Be forewarned, this option is for advanced users — disabling essential startup items can have catastrophic results. Don't kill the auto-start settings for anything you don't recognize!

2. Fluff not necessary
Unless you've built your PC from scratch and manually installed Windows, hands have touched your computer before. Heck, you may have even had some kind of setup service performed at the store immediately following your purchase. The downside to all this pre-use activity is that applications that you will likely never touch have likely been installed and are running on your computer.

To deal with this preinstalled mess, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall the unwanted items. Things to avoid removing include standard Microsoft software bundles such as Office, software you have actively paid for such as Photoshop, and your antivirus package. If you're not sure where something came from or what it does, do your online homework and search for software's name before uninstalling — better safe than sorry!
Extra software can also end up on your computer after you install applications you actually want. As you go through the installation process, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for additional install prompts. These will look something like "Install Utility Name for Internet Explorer/Firefox" with a check box next to it. Make sure the checkbox is not checked, to keep the junk software at bay.

3. Safe and simple browsing
Current versions of popular browsers (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome) let you do much more than the mere web surfing of their predecessors: extensions and add-ons let your browser do all sorts of things. Have you set up something in your browser that displays an unread emails count icon, or maybe clips web sites to Evernote with one touch? Then you're using extensions!

Did you know these extensions require additional resources beyond the standard browser requirements to run? You can disable these items when you want to speed up your computer (and your browser). The process varies a bit based on your browser:
Internet Explorer and Firefox Go to Tools > Add-ons or Manage Add-ons (depending on your version) and disable individual add-ons that you don't use.
Chrome Right-click on any of your add-on icons (located between the address bar and the wrench icon) and select Disable. You can also click Manage Extensions to go through your installed/enabled add-ons in one page.

Browser add-ons can seriously hinder your speed
Internet Explorer comes with an option to launch entirely without add-ons, so you don't have to disable individual add-ons on a session-by-session basis. To access this version of IE, click the Start Button and type in Internet Explorer. You should see two versions come up: Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Select the second version, and IE will launch without any add-ons or plugins. To use a version with add-ons, simply launch IE from your regular shortcut.

4. Timing your antivirus scans
You may think that running your antivirus program at all times is the epitome of safe browsing. While it's true that running scan jobs during peak hours may keep your computer marginally safer, it comes at a serious expense to speed. Most antivirus packages have a background task that runs at all times and scans new files when they are downloaded, while operating with a lower demand to your computer's resources.

To keep your top browsing hours free of any unneeded antivirus burden, configure full scans during hours that you are definitely not on your computer.
Workday hours (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) This works best if you use a different computer for business purposes.

Early evening (6-7:30 p.m.) Scan while cooking dinner or unwinding after the workday.

Late night (1-4 a.m.) Let it run while you're asleep.

Find the hours that work best for you, and configure your scanning schedule accordingly. Make sure that your real-time or on-demand scanning is also enabled when setting up your schedule!

5. Add a physical boost
If you've done everything above and your computer is still sluggish, your last option is to upgrade the memory (RAM) in your computer. RAM acts kind of like short-term memory for a person, giving your programs more room to keep data while they're running. However, figuring out what kind of RAM your computer needs and installing it can get complicated: so if you want to upgrade your computer's memory, we recommend calling your local computer repair shop and letting them take care of it.

Good housekeeping
Keeping your computer in top form requires regular maintenance. Follow a maintenance schedule for your standard activities and perform a little seasonal cleanup.
